Orthotics 2020—Defending the Future of Orthotic Care

Everyone who has a stake in the orthotics profession should attend this session to learn about AOPA’s newest project—Orthotics 2020. Diminishing market share for O&P seemingly every year, and threats of shift to competitive bidding persist for this mainstay that accounts for nearly 50% of revenue at average O&P patient care facility. The future of the orthotics profession will depend on significant research initiated and funded today, especially on patient outcomes and treatment effectiveness.
During this program we will share how orthotic manufacturers and patient care entities have established a Medical Advisory Board (MAB), and are working cooperatively to advance non-branded studies and data to assess outcomes across identified categories of treatment.
Five workgroups have been established to focus on the areas of stroke, osteoarthritis, cranial orthoses, scoliosis and spinal bracing.
